Library also intentionally invested in students by creating employment opportunities. e rst student employees helped move the library’s physical collection from Atwater to campus in August 2005. Since then, more than 500 student employees have made important contributions to the UC Merced Library and acquired new skills. ey have digitized archival materials, prepared exhibits, updated technology, processed interlibrary loan requests, participated in outreach events, o ered friendly support to their peers and more. Some have gone on to pursue careers in information science and archival elds.
